Sandra H. Austin, Chairman of
the Board
Ms. Austin brings nearly 30 years of experience in the health care industry to Plexys. She
is currently the CEO of PhyServ, a recent
spin-off of National Data Corporation, a leader in
health care information systems.She previously served as the President of Sedona, a venture capital-backed, physician practice
management company. Prior to Sedona, she served as the President of Clinical Management
Services, and subsequently the President of Physician Services at Caremark,
Inc. As the head of Physician Services at Caremark, she managed two business
units, a PPM and a dialysis business with combined revenues of $280 million. As the
President of Clinical Management Services, she led the turnaround of a $450 million
home-care business where her efforts resulted in significant cost savings.
Before joining Caremark, Ms. Austin spent several years in senior management roles at University of Chicago Hospitals, University Hospitals of Cleveland, and
Huron Road Hospital. These roles were highlighted with the positions of
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the University of Chicago
Hospitals, Senior Vice President and General Manager at University Hospitals of Cleveland,
and President of Huron Road Hospital.
Ms. Austin has a J.D. from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State
University, a M.P.H. in Health and Hospital Management from the University of Michigan, a
B.S.N. in Nursing and Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University and a
nursing degree from the Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital School of Nursing.
Ellen A. Rudnick, Board Advisor
Ms. Rudnick has over twenty-five years of experience in business management and
entrepreneurial activities, primarily in the health care and information services
industries. She is currently the Chairman of Pacific Biometrics,
Inc., a company that she co-founded in 1993. Pacific Biometrics applies
revolutionary patented technologies in saliva and perspiration collection to develop
non-invasive, cost-effective diagnostic tests for the screening and monitoring of
diseases.
Ms. Rudnick founded in 1992 CEO Advisors, a
consulting firm that advises health care technology and information services companies on
business strategy, business ventures and capital financing. Her previous positions include
senior management roles at Healthcare Knowledge Resources
(HKR), a health care information company which was sold in 1992 to HCIA
Inc., and Baxter Health Care Corporation.
Ms. Rudnick received a B.A. from Vassar College and a M.B.A. from the University of
Chicago.
Mark A. Zorko, Board Advisor
Mr. Zorko has 22 years of progressive financial management experience at public and
private companies in the U.S. and abroad. In recent years, he has advised start-ups on
their financial strategies. He is currently a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer of FutureSource, a firm that provides
analytical information on the financial markets.
Mr. Zorko is a Certified Public Accountant and has a MBA in Management Information
Systems from the University of Minnesota. He received a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from Ohio
State University. He has also graduated from the Chief Financial Officer Program at
Harvard University and the Investor Relations Program at Emory University. Mr. Zorko is a
Board Member of the Chicago Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute, a member of the
AICPA, a member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society (CPIM), a member
of the Association for Corporate Growth, and a former Director of Intellimedia
Corporation.
Dr. Kishan Thapar, Board Advisor
Dr. Thapar is the CEO of ProMed,
an IPA in Southern California. Previously he was the Chief Medical Director for PrimeCare, a PPM. His industry knowledge, physician
relationships, and general business acumen are a substantial asset for Plexys. ProMed will
be one of Plexys' initial test sites and will be instrumental in the success and growth of
the business. |
